A historic property with contemporary comforts
A rare opportunity to acquire a "historic" lakeside property on Lake Saimaa. This well-preserved former ferryman's residence and barn — since converted and expanded into a modern villa and beach house — combines classic Finnish post-war architecture with contemporary comforts and a spectacular setting on Finland's largest lake.
The property underwent a comprehensive renovation and extension in 2012–2017 and again in 2025, renewing all interior and exterior surfaces, windows and doors, kitchen, bathrooms and basement spaces as well as the villa's roof — including all electrical and plumbing installations. Large window sections were added to flood the interiors with natural light and create a seamless connection with the surrounding nature.
The former cellar has been fully utilised: it now houses bathroom, utility- and hobby rooms, with a home cinema complete with projector and surround sound as the crowning touch. The two buildings together offer 6–7 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 5 WCs. In addition, there is space for 6 vehicles across two garages, one of which is heated and includes a workshop. A separate carport stands alongside. The Beach House also has its own dedicated workshop.
On the 6,606 m² plot, alongside the main house, stands the former barn converted into a Beach House with a wood-fired sauna (the villa also has an electric sauna) — ideal for guests or a second generation. The approximately 100-metre private shoreline features a sandy beach, a jetty and a pleasant barbecue area. There is also a greenhouse and a couple of firewood sheds. The property would also lend itself well to bed & breakfast use.
The Beach House bedrooms are primarily intended for summer use, but are also suitable for occasional winter stays. Finland's variable weather has been taken into account: both houses feature large covered and glazed terraces (30 and 26 m²) in addition to open-air terraces.
Lossinranta/Ferry Beach is being sold for health reasons. It has been our home for 14 years. We wish the new owner as much joy and happiness as this place has brought us.
Four seasons on Lake Saimaa
Ferry Beach is beautiful in every season – from the emerald greens of summer to the snowy silence of winter.
Puumala, jewel of South Savo
Ferry Beach is located in Puumala, South Savo, right on the shores of Lake Saimaa. Puumala is renowned for its archipelago and pristine nature — one of Finland's most beautiful lake landscapes.
The property is equally well-suited for permanent residence or leisure use. Connections by road to larger cities make remote working possible in a lakeside setting.
